I am wondering if the Barnetts’ that settled in Virginia and Florida are related to the Barnetts in this research?

As far as I know the Barnetts of Parker County, Texas are not related to those who settled in Virginia and Florida. James M. Barnett was born in Hardeman County, Tennessee. His father, James J. Barnett, was born in Caldwell County, Kentucky, and his father, Samuel Barnett, was reportedly born in South Carolina. My research has not yet reached back that far, but I have not yet found any reference to Virginia or Florida. Good luck in the hunt for your family.

I am a direct descendent of M.W.Barnett. The father lineage I have is as follows (from me going backwards) Kirt William, William Dixon Jr., William Dixon, Paul Barthold, Matthew William, James Johnson, Samuel, James, John – all Barnetts. I have been researching my family for a while and would love to share information with you. I have many pictures of M.W.Barnett and his wife Sarah. I have a few pictures of a couple of his sisters. I have found the cemeteries where M.W. and Samuel are buried. I can also point you to the (still standing) cabin that M.W. I know this is a long shot, but here goes. I have traced my lineage back to the Samuel and Matilda Barnett family of Fork Union, Virginia. They had 12 children, most of whom I’ve been
able to trace, but a few have just vanished! Kaput! Gone child! However, I did pick up some scuttle-but that either Woodson or Samuel of the original family made their way to Texas, and eventually prospered. I’m wondering if you know of a Samuel or Woodson Barnett who wold have settled there around the turn of the century. 1900 or so. Thank you for responding.

Hello Glenna! Nice to meet you. I met a Glenn Barnett from Indiana in Seattle some 30 years ago now. We had a reunion at that time and he attended with Drucilla Barnett Leachman. She was the daughter of Foster Barnett. My grandfather was Powell Benjamin Barnett, the 4th child of Samuel

Sorry to be so late in responding, but this website has not been on my radar, if you know what I mean? I did meet a Glenn Barnett about 20 years ago,but I understand he died a few years back.
I met him at a Barnett Reunion held here in Seattle. He came out here with Drucilla Barnett Leachman,who was the daughter of Foster Barnett. Foster in turn was the brother of Powell
Benjamin Barnett, my grandfather. Powell Benjamin and Foster Barnett were the children of
Samuel and Matilda Barnett. They were slaves on the Point of Fork plantation in Fluvanna County,
Virginia. The slave-owners name was James Galt! There is a lot more to be said. But I prefer

The only Samuel Barnett I know of was reportedly born in South Carolina 1784 and moved to Kentucky then to Tennesse and settled in Texas around 1849 Collin County

I have been researching the history of Elizabeth Vasti Barnett Stafford. In wikitree.com her profile is listed as Barnett-3255. I do believe she is from the Barnett’s in Cumberland, Tennessee who were of the three Presbyterian ministers John, William, and James Barnett from 1805-1830’s. I do believe her father Abram Barnett b.1798 was born in Mississippi. If we could work on her lineage more I would really appreciate it.
Hello, I have been researching an allusive ancestor in my family tree and have run across a family of Barnett’s I’m hoping you can help me identify. My ancestor’s name was Drury Anglin, he owned close to 4,0000 acres in Collin County Texas between 1845 and1874. I found a court document dated March 8th 1880 Collin County Texas that included a Thomas B Barnett guardian of the estate of HL Barnett, Mollie A Barnett, Minnie Barnett, and Ida B Barnett minors. He is asking for permission from the court to sell real estate property of said minors belonging to the Drury Anglin Land Survey. He is saying he does not have sufficient money to support the minors. The land is mentioned to also be known as the homestead of Benjamin and Eliza McClure, other persons mentioned are JJ Thomas, wife Emily Thomas, JM and Lavinia Stothers.
Do any of these names look familiar to you? Do you know of a connection between the Barnett’s and Anglin’s? How about the McClure’s? I have found quite a few Barnett’s along side Anglin’s in varied census through out the south and also along side the land that Drury Anglin buys and sales in Montague County Texas and Jasper Texas. Please let me know if you know of a connection between these families or if you run across one in the future, I would be very grateful! Thank you for your time.

Sorry I just saw this, I don’t have much but I’ll give you the names I found in Collin County on the land Drury Anglin owned, He lived in Jasper too. Let me get back to you this weekend.
The only info I have are the previous mentioned Barnett’s in Collin County. The land I mentioned was previously Fannin County and called Millwood. Are any of the mentioned Barnett’s in you tree? If you could narrow it down I can see what I can find.
I have been searching for my Samuel P. Barnett ancestor for many years. He first appeared in documentation in 1830s at Port Royal, Montgomery County, TN. He was listed in 1840 and 1850 Montgomery Co., TN census records. I have him covered from the 1840s until his death in Trigg Co., KY in 1885. ANY assistance in his place of birth, his parents would be best gift ever!!
My family was originally from North Carolina and South Carolina border area moved to Kentucky/ Tennessee then Mississippi to Texas in late 1840s first Freestone county then Parker county. I do remember seeing that we had kin in Collin Co and I know that my GGGF James J Barnett joined a Confederate unit out of Collin Co while his sons all joined local units out of Parker and Tarrant Cos
